T&H Lemont ships seam orientation stand

T&H Lemont recently shipped a new motorized seam orientation stand, model 280/6. The unit works on tube diameters from 0.750 to 3.500 in. and wall thicknesses from 0.028 to 0.250 in.

SOS units compensate for any drift in the weld seam location. Using two vertical rolls that are adjusted by the operator, the SOS aligns the seam at a specified location on the circumference, usually top dead center. This brings the weld seam into alignment with equipment on the mill—inductors used for inline annealing, sensors used for nondestructive testing, and so on. It also assists in maintaining the tube’s straightness and in complying with any customer requests for a specific seam location on shaped tube.

T&H Lemont designs and builds SOS units for its own mills and for mills built by other manufacturers. They handle tube from 0.750 to 14 inches in diameter.
