Contract Machining

T&H Lemont is more than a tube mill and tooling manufacturer. It’s also a supplier of precision turned parts, working directly with OEMs or through OEM supply chains.

The company opened its Contract Machining Division in 1997 as a way to diversify its business. Adept at milling and turning steel to manufacture its own products since 1962, the company leveraged that expertise to focus on sintered metal and hard turning.

The company’s primary focus over the decades has been the automotive industry, mainly powder metal components for engines and transmissions. However, this specific focus is neither a restriction nor a limitation. The company is open to any high-volume turning application.

Staffing

Many manufacturers are desperate for skilled labor and some resort to using a high percentage of temporary unskilled labor. T&H Lemont doesn’t go that route. Its location, near Chicago, puts it in the middle of the largest pool of machinists in the U.S.* The company relies on highly skilled machinists with decades of experience. Machinists committed to precision manufacturing. Machinists who understand the benefits of ISO 9001:2015 and the requirements of IATF 16949. Machinists you can trust with your most important components.

Capability

The company invested in state-of-the-art turning centers equipped with hard-turning packages to handle the most robust of materials. These machines are assisted with automatic loader/unloaders and dual loading tables for high-volume production. Each of the company’s work centers can turn out large numbers of components annually, from tens of thousands to millions, depending on the application.

For quality control, it relies on the latest generation of equipment the metrology industry has to offer.

Differentiators

Despite 25 years of successful work in this niche, T&H Lemont’s Contract Machining Division remains unencumbered by layers of administration and unnecessary overhead. It uses processes that are up to date yet streamlined, allowing the division to provide machining services at lower cost than many of its competitors.

We have a small yet dedicated team of programmers, machine operators, and engineers committed to continual improvement. The company uses the latest tools and methods, makes regular investments in employee training, and makes employee retention a priority.

The result of these combined efforts is an exceptionally low defect rate and a customer service capability that is second to none.
