Weld Boxes
Weld boxes have three clevises mounted on a self-centering chuck, which provides simultaneous adjustment of all three weld rolls about the centerline. The entire chuck assembly is mounted to a subplate to provide vertical adjustment for various centerline heights. Two of the clevis sets are slide-mounted with individual lead screw adjustment to compensate for edge mismatch and to allow quick initial set-up. The unit is designed so the chuck will mount one roll at bottom dead center and the two top rolls at 60 degrees and -60 degrees from top dead center, creating a gap between the two top rolls for the weld seam.
The chuck can be unbolted, rotated 60 degrees, and remounted to provide an inverted Y orientation with the top roll at top dead center. When used in this configuration, the top roll requires a relief groove for the weld seam.
