T&H Lemont is seeking a CNC mill operator

T&H Lemont has an immediate opening for a full-time CNC Mill Operator in Countryside, Illinois. Candidates for this position are highly qualified, experienced, and dynamic individuals familiar with working in a shop environment. Program, set up, and operate a CNC milling center. A minimum of 3 years on Mazak brand machines. Work directly from prints to determine the best method to complete work, including starting points and cutting paths, per industry standards.

Ideal candidates are familiar with modern shop practices, know how to use all the common shop tools efficiently, and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Check work orders, prints, and drawings
  • Write and edit programs at machine interface
  • Select proper tooling to produce parts efficiently; sharpen or replace tools as necessary
  • Manufacture or select appropriate work holdings and fixtures
  • Establish and set appropriate toll offsets
  • Perform mechanical tasks including loading and unloading vises and fixtures
  • Manufacture parts from raw materials to completion per blueprints, work orders, customer specifications, and tolerances
  • Measure the first part and in-process parts to conform to blueprints, work orders, customer specifications, and tolerances
  • Trim or de-burr parts or otherwise finish parts to conform blueprints, work orders, customer specifications, and tolerances
  • Select and use appropriate measurement devices for inspection
  • Continuously review work orders with Supervisor to organize and optimize workflow
  • Bring any problems or issues to attention of the Supervisor, and seek resolutions
  • Suggest changes for continuous improvements

Requirements

  • Age minimum: 18 years
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Ability to read part drawings
  • Solid, fundamental understanding of production operations and processes
  • Good mechanical aptitude, familiarity with hand tools and measuring instruments, comfortable in a shop environment
  • Provide own tools

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read G-code preferred
  • Tool design experience preferred
  • Machine repair experience preferred

Physical Demands 

  • Ability to walk, stand, and use hands 100% of the work day
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or twist 50% of the work day
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in a shop environment – contentious exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils, and solvents
